Burmese Fish & Tomato Curry Recipe แกงปลาพม่า – Pai’s Kitchen!

Fragrant, healthy and easy fish curry from Myanmar! Tomatoes are cooked down into a luscious sauce with herbs like lemongrass, turmeric and ginger, and then fish is gently simmered in this flavourful liquid. It’s an easy and delicious way to start venturing into Burmese cuisine!

This recipe is inspired by a cookbook from a famous Burmese restaurant in the Bay Area called Burma Superstar. I always wanted to go there when I lived in the area, but I never got a chance to, so I was excited to try out their recipes when I saw the book released! I hope you enjoy it!

And Pailin, do you think I can get their cook book? I have e-mailed them after finding them on internet 🙂

I got so happy when I saw that you were gonna do this Burmese tomatoe-fish-dish. But, it is not as the one I got in and around Mandalay, Myanmar, so I think this one is modified, or how you write it (I am Swedish). The week I was in and around Mandalay, I got a set of different dishes for every lunch, there were from 6 to 9 different dishes in front of me, for no money at all. The one I liked the most, was the tomatoe-dish with a hint of fish and some other things. But there the fish was integrated in the tomatoes so you could not see them. I miss that one… have to go back to Burma or Myanmar, and also eat their exellent tea leaf sallad, very nice!
