I recently finished a baking class and I’m not satisfied with the recipe for black cake we were thought I like mine very gooey… but the recipe we did was more thick and a bit fluffy in a way…. and the instructor had to add about half the bottle of coloring the came turned out too sweet….. n not black enough.

I’m sorry to hear, especially if you paid for the class? The video above is free –as well as the recipe in the link! Please watch the video and read the recipe and give it a try!

Excellent👍👍 but I loved the texture of the cake made with your mother’s fruit…I have found the longer the fruit is soaked results in a moister cake. I also prefer to use brown sugar for fruit cakes..the darker colour. 0

    • CookingWithRia says:

Yes it’s always moister–but the other is just as delicious too–if one can’t wait a whole year to bake a cake. Brown sugar is great as well! Thanks for stopping by. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for sharing this recipe can u please tell me what brand of the coloring u used ?

    • CookingWithRia says:

I didn’t use coloring. I used browning –brands shown on the video–if that’s what you need. Click on the link below for the printable recipe.
