Palitaw | Ep. 51 | Mortar and Pastry

Palitaw is a traditional Filipino delicacy made of glutinous rice flour cooked in boiling water until it floats, hence the term “palitaw” or to show up/float. It perfectly goes along with freshly grated coconut with a little bit of sugar and an added flavor of roasted sesame seeds makes everything extra special. Make your own palitaw which is very easy to make with just a few ingredients and savor the flavor of Filipino culture!

Ingredients:
1 ½ cup glutinous rice flour
½ cup water
freshly grated coconut
sugar
roasted sesame seeds

This recipe makes 13pcs palitaw

COSTING:
500g glutinous rice flour – 40php
Sugar – 15php
Sesame seeds – 20php
Grated coconut – 20php

TOTAL: 95 pesos

*Half kilogram (500g) glutinous rice flour makes about 40-50 pieces palitaw.
