(THE BEST!!) Rainbow Dog Birthday Cake RECIPE

Rainbow Birthday Cake for Dogs

Ingredients

Cake batter:
8 cups unsweetened cornflakes
2 cups unsweetened coconut
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 cups hot water
2 bananas, mashed
4 large eggs
cooking spray

Frosting:
16 oz cream cheese, room temperature
¾ cup creamy peanut butter
½ banana, roughly mashed
natural food coloring

Directions

Bake the cake:
1. Place the cornflakes into a Ziploc bag and crush into crumbs. Pour into a large bowl. Add the coconut flakes, flour, peanut butter, hot water, mashed banana and eggs. Mix together with an electric mixer.
2. Spray four 6” round cake pans with cooking spray. Divide the cake between the four pans. Bake at 325F for 40 minutes, until the edges are golden. Allow the cakes to cool completely.

Make the frosting:
1. Beat the cream cheese and peanut butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Set aside.

Assembly:
1. Slice off any raised areas from the surface of the cakes with a serrated knife, so that the surfaces are flat.
2. Stack the cakes on a platter of your choice. Take 1 cup of frosting and mix it with the mashed banana. Spread the frosting evenly between each cake layer.
3. Divide half of the remaining frosting into 5 bowls. Dye it red, yellow, green, blue and pink with natural food coloring. Place the frosting into piping bags and snip off the ends, creating a medium-sized tip. Place the remaining white frosting into a piping bag as well.
4. Pipe horizontal stripes onto the sides and top of the cake in the order of the rainbow, piping a white stripe between each layer. Use a cake spatula, or a cake scraper, to smooth the sides.
5. Top with extra dollops of frosting or some dog treats. Serve to your puppy and enjoy!

Dog-Safe food coloring: IMPORTANT!! The colors I used contains ingredients that are safe for dogs. This same brand sells other colors that are NOT safe for dogs (such as purple, because it contains grapes, which are toxic to dogs).
